ChatGPT experienced widespread disruptions on Thursday afternoon, leaving many users unable to access the AI platform. OpenAI confirmed the issue, reporting glitches affecting ChatGPT, its API, and Sora.
"ChatGPT, the API, and Sora are currently experiencing high error rates. The issue is caused by an upstream provider, and we are actively monitoring the situation," OpenAI stated in an update to its status page after the technical problems emerged around 1:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
As of 3:06 p.m. Eastern, OpenAI assured users it was working on a fix, reiterating the same update an hour later.

More than 15,000 outage reports were logged by OpenAI users on Thursday afternoon, according to Downdetector, a service that tracks real-time issues across various websites and platforms. The majority of reports centered on problems with ChatGPT.
