Bill Clinton has been hospitalized for observation and testing after developing a fever.

Former President Bill Clinton, 78, has been hospitalized in Washington after developing a fever, his deputy chief of staff, Angel Ureña, confirmed to NBC News on Monday. Clinton has been admitted to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital for testing and observation.

"He is in good spirits and grateful for the care he is receiving," Ureña added.

A source close to Clinton described the situation as "not urgent," stating that "the former president will be fine" and that he simply wanted to be checked out. Clinton is reportedly awake and alert.

Since leaving office in 2001, Clinton has faced several health challenges, including undergoing a quadruple bypass surgery in 2004 and a heart procedure in 2010 when two stents were inserted into a coronary artery.
